The bread companions: The hotel La Semilla
The hotel La Semilla is located on 38th, one of the most popular streets in downtown Playa del Carmen for its natural beauty, full of ancient trees, cenotes and at the end: the paradisiacal beach of the Caribbean Sea.
It could be considered that 38th is one of the epicenters of the touristic life of Playa del Carmen. It has everything one needs, bars and restaurants and you could just spend the whole day on this street if you wanted to
The hotel is located next to La Cueva del Chango, one of the most famous restaurants in Playa. In fact, the entrance of La Semilla is somewhat hidden at first sight.
When you enter, you realize that it is a place connected with nature. It is located between jungle trees and open spaces that still receive the wild fauna of the place. This concept pampers all the senses thanks to the details of the setting, the decoration and, above all, the omnipresence of nature. It looks like a little green oasis right in the middle of the continuoys activity of tourists strolling down 38th Street.
Brito received me that day and gave me warm attention. His disposition and his experience will make your trip a formidable experience.
La Semilla, was the first business that trusted us and proposed our bread as a complement to their homemade jams and the variety of breakfasts that Chef Gabriel serves daily to the guests.
Breakfast is served in a semi-open space in front of the kitchen, where you can see the preparation of your food, you can choose between different tables or scenarios of unique pieces of furniture to adjust to your comfort; the garden is full of palm trees and trees, so all the places and corners seemed ideal to enjoy breakfast.
Its gastronomic concept is focused on a varied and balanced menu and above all: fresh. The fruits are seasonal and are squeezed at the moment. A bar is assembled with homemade jams, nuts, natural yogurt and a bread basket that includes our breads, the rye with cranberries and walnuts and the 3 seeds loaf, so that you can freely accompany them as you prefer!
I started with a coffee and a varied plate of fruits which I added to the rye bread and I put a base of passion fruit-mango jam to fill me with energy.
Then Chef Gabriel prepared me the classic divorced eggs, with Mexican red and green sauces and refried beans which are mounted on slices of bread with 3 seeds that have a more neutral flavor that is perfect with salty foods. At the end I had a natural orange juice that I enjoyed while walking among the terrace.
I left happy of my breakfast.
I highly recommend this hotel if you come to Playa or if you have family visiting.
Thanks to Brito and Gabriel for their attention, time and care.
